In 1942, the Japanese Occupation forces landed in the beaches of the town of Libertad, Antique.In 1945, the liberators of the Philippine Commonwealth troops under the 6th Infantry Regiment of the Philippine Constabulary in the town of Libertad, Antique, attacked and defeated the Japanese Imperial forces during the Second World War.
