Line 9 of the Beijing Subway
is rapid transit
line currently under construction in western Beijing
. The line will run 16.5 km from the National Library (Baishiqiao) in Haidian District in the north to Guogongzhuang in Fengtai District
in the south, and have 13 stations. Construction began in April 2007 and the line will enter into operation in two phases. The first phase, consisting of the southern section from the Beijing West Railway Station
to Guogongzhuang, began trial operations with empty cars in September 2011, and is scheduled to be opened to the public at the end of December 2011. The second phase, consisting of the northern section from Beijing West Station to the National Library, is scheduled to enter into operations in September 2012.
