In october 2009 it was announced that Palanski is set to direct for Sony Pictures Entertainment

and Jeremy Bell are serving as executive producers. The story takes place in the 1930s and tells of a renowned novelist and his is quest to unearth a legendary treasure. Sony

In a 2008 interview Palanski also revealed that he is working on two other projects with actor Peter Dinklage
. The first one, "Mendel's Dwarf", is a scientific love story. The second one, based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe, is called "Hop Frog". It is dark atmospheric revenge tale in the vein of a Grimm's' Fairytale except it is not really fantastical.
