He served as Chairman of the Professional Cricketers' Association. After his retirement he announced his intention to become a Conservative Member of Parliament, however he has yet to stand for election.
Fleming is currently the MCC
representative in Afghanistan
. Part of Fleming's role is to spread the game, particularly in schools and to help the development of the Afghanistan national cricket team.
He is also a lifelong supporter of Birmingham City Football Club.
