Maureen had a passion for news and at the same time stayed active in the community, so she went on to UC Davis and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and studied for her degree in broadcast journalism. At the same time she was studying for her major, she was on the lacrosse
team. Maureen graduated from Cal Poly.

broadcasting from Mt. Shasta Mall in Redding which ran from 2002 until February 2004. While at NCN, Maureen won an award for best news anchor and best non-traditional news show. Unfortunately, the management at KNVN/KHSL decided to pull the plug on Your Show Live due to low ratings. Maureen teamed up with Matt Keller at NCN for another year before leaving on March 10, 2005 after four years with NCN.
