First Term on City Council (2002-2006)

Mike Pagtakhan was first elected to City Council in October 2002 running in an "open" seat created by the retirement of Councillor John Prystanski.

In this election, Pagtakhan came first in a 7 person field capturing slightly over 28% of the votes cast. The official results were as follows http://www.winnipeg.ca/clerks/election/election2002/results.htm:

In his first term in office, Pagtakhan held numerous positions within the city including the position of Deputy Mayor (and earlier) the position of Acting Deputy Mayor.

In addition, he served on the following committees: Executive Policy Committee, Standing Policy Committee on Protection and Community Services, Citizen Equity Committee (where he served as chair), Joint Committee - Council Members and C.U.P.E. Representatives, Winnipeg Committee for Safety, Winnipeg Housing Rehabilitation Corporation, Exchange District Business Improvement Zone Board, Alternate Service Delivery Committee, Rapid Transit Task Force, and the Ad Hoc Committee to Review Policy on Purchasing Procedures, Disposal of Surplus Supplies, and Policy on Assignment of Consultants

Second Term on City Council (2006-2010)

Pagtakhan was re-elected to City Council on October 25, 2006. In this election, Pagtakhan came first in a three person field which included his nearest competitor from the 2002 election.
