The pageant, called "Beauties for a Cause
", included beauty tilts such as the parade of delegates in swimsuits, the long gown, and talent competitions, but more weight was given to ecological and environmental intelligence in the interview portion.
Miss Philippines was formally launched in a press conference on April 3, 2001, along with the search of Miss Earth
