. The school opened in the fall of 2003, the fourth major high school
in the Meridian School District. MVHS is well-known in the Treasure Valley
for its state-of-the-art track & field complex and football
field.

. Mountain View competes in the IHSAA
class 5A, for the largest enrollments in the state, and is a member of the 5A Southern Idaho Conference (SIC).
The Mavericks brought home their first two state championship titles in the fall of the 2006-07 school year, when the boys soccer and boys cross country
teams brought home trophies within one week of each other. Mountain View also won state boys wrestling
in the 2007-08 year. The marching band
claimed first place in the "5A Small" division among other awards, at their yearly District III competition for three consecutive years as well as the High Percussion award for three consecutive years. The Millennium Dancers took home 1st place in the military category at the 2008 Idaho State Dance and Cheer Competition, then received 2nd place at Miss Dance/Drill Team USA Nationals. team placed second out of 70 schools in sweepstakes from the Whitman College
tournament for the 2008-09 school year. Girls cross country
brought in another state trophy in the 2008-09 school year. The Mountain View Boys Basketball team also won state in the 2010-11 season. After the Mountain View Boys Basketball team won their first state championship, the Girls Varsity Track Team, went on to win their first district and state title, capping off an undefeated season for the team.

He began his coaching and teaching career at Spanaway Lake High School and after one year he decided to return to the Boise area. In 1996, he took a job at Lake Hazel Middle School teaching art and coaching 8th grade football. In 1997 he went to Boise High School, teaching P.E. and art, and was the head sophomore football coach. From 1998-2001 he taught art and coached varsity football at Timberline H.S., becoming the defensive coordinator in 2001. From 2002-2007 he taught art and coached at Centennial High School. While at Centennial he coached linebackers and shared in many of the defensive duties. They won a State Championship in 2003 going 12-0. In 2007 he took the head football job at Mountain View High School. In his first year as head coach we finished 6-3 in the regular season and lost in the first round of the playoffs to Meridian. Currently he is teaching Co-Ed P.E. and Athletic Fitness at Mountain View. He is married to Elessa, his wife of 13 years. They have a 5 year old daughter named Zoe and twin boys who are 1 year old, named Kade and Kai.
Coach Nettleton is in his 6th season here at Mt. View. Coach attended college in Wisconsin at UW-Superior (D-III) ('96) ('00), where he played basketball & baseball for 4 years. Coach Nettleton teaches Desktop Publishing, Computer Apps. 1, 2, 3 and Business Tech in the Business Department. Coach Nettleton is in his 15th year of teaching and 16th year of coaching. The varsity football head coach is Mr. Benedick. He was a four year starter for PLU at middle linebacker. He earned three all-conference selections, was elected team captain and was an NAIA all-American his junior and senior years.
