The channel launched in 1994
as TMN Moviepix, and by 1996
, was simply known as Moviepix at the time. By 2003
, the channel was renamed Mpix.
Mpix consists of a total of three multiplex channels: two standard definition and one high definition channels. Mpix operates as a separate service with a separate licence then its sister network, The Movie Network
, although often Mpix is sold together in a package with The Movie Network. A video on demand
service is also offered featuring programming from the two networks, Mpix OnDemand, which launched on December 19, 2006.

The majority of the content offered by the Mpix channels are classic films, although Mpix does offer a limited amount of television series in the form of pop culture series on the topic of films and film-making including:- Moviehead - hosted by Matt Hawkins playing every Friday before the 9 p.m. Reel Premiere; The show takes a snapshot look at the movie and the time it was made.
- Movie Style - hosted by Lisa Williams and Matt Hawkins; is a lifestyle show on MorePix that combines films with trends in fashion, design, beauty and entertaining.
