. This highway connects three main cities in northern part of Karnataka state, namely, Gulbarga
, Bijapur
and Hubli (also known as Hubballi). It covers a distance of 399 km. The NH 218 was a state highway before nominated as national highway. The state highways are maintained by respective state governments, whereas national highways are maintained by Central Government of India.
