and the Sydney Swans
, all of whom compete in the AFL
. Greater Western Sydney, who are to begin competition in the AFL in 2012, will play in the NEAFL in 2011. Teams from the former QAFL compete in the Northern Conference of the league, as well as the Brisbane and Gold Coast reserves teams, and teams from the former AFL Canberra compete in the Eastern Conference, as well as the Greater Western Sydney and the Sydney reserves teams.
Teams compete for conference premierships, with the two premier teams in each conference playing off in the NEAFL Grand Final.
