Orbis is a quarterly American
journal
on international relations
and U.S. foreign policy. It is the flagship publication of the Philadelphia-based Foreign Policy Research Institute
(FPRI), an international affairs think tank established in 1955.
FPRI founder Robert Strausz-Hupé
created Orbis in response to his dissatisfaction with the Council on Foreign Relations

, in which he never published an article. Strausz-Hupé edited the journal himself from its first issue in 1957 until 1969, when he left FPRI to begin a diplomatic career, handing the reins to William R. Kintner.
The journal is presently edited by Mackubin Thomas Owens

(1995–2001).
