Pagadian Airport is an airport

. It is the only airport in Zamboanga del Sur and is classified as a Principal Airport Class 1 (Major Domestic) airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, a body of the Department of Transportation and Communications
that is responsible for the operations of not only this airport but also of all other airports in the Philippines except the major international airports.
The airport is located approximately 5 kilometers away from the city center and is in Brgys. Muricay and Tiguma, Pagadian City.
On October 9, 2009, the nearly finished airport was inaugurated by Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. The first jet that touched down the newly repaired runway was a Fokker 70 of the Philippine Air Force carrying PSG troops followed by a Dornier 328
of the Royal Star Aviation, registration RP-C8328 chartered to carry the PMS entourage of the President. The last jet that landed for the inauguration was the Presidential jet owned by San Miguel Corporation, with registration RP-C8576 chartered by the Office of the President.

flight from Cebu City on April 27, 2010, made local history as the first commercial plane to land on the new Pagadian Airport. The first flight from Manila by the same airline arrived on June 9, 2010.
Manila-Pagadian-Manila is currently on a daily basis utilizing an Airbus A319-100 series aircraft that can accommodate 150 passengers. On October 7, 2011, Manila-Pagadian flight will depart Manila at 7:10am and will arrive in Pagadian at 8:45am. The return Pagadian-Manila flight leaves Pagadian at 9:15am and will arrive in Manila at 10:50am.

Renovation and Re-opening
The airport had just recently gone through a Php 379.46 Million Rehabilitation and Expansion which was started in 2006 and completed December 2009. It was a major project that involved upgrading of its facilities, that in the meantime, regular airport operations were stopped.On October 9, 2009, the nearly finished airport was inaugurated by Pres. Cebu-Pagadian-Cebu is currently on a 4x weekly basis (Tu/Th/Sa/Su) utilizing a 72-seater ATR 72-500 series. Cebu-Pagadian departs Cebu at 11:30am and arrives in Pagadian at 12:30pm. Its return flight Pagadian-Cebu departs at 12:50pm and arrives in Cebu at 1:45pm.
