After making the discovery, the brothers relocate to the fictional Polynesia

of the island nation, which has many odd customs and superstitions – while trying not to cause problems. Actually, the oldest twin was supposed to rule alone but, since all records of which twin (Brady or Boomer) is the eldest were lost, the two of them must rule together. An interesting side note is that in an episode in early October 2011, there actually was a chance to find out who was older but the scroll that held the answer fell into a volcano so no one will find out who has the seniority to be the lone ruler. Boomer and Brady's efforts are often aided by Mason's teenage daughter Mikayla (Kelsey Chow
) and hindered by Lanny (Ryan Ochoa
), a disgruntled cousin who's out to sabotage the boys and take the throne for himself, because he was supposed to be heir to the throne before they found out of Brady and Boomer.

He often uses his history of being bullied to help figure out how to solve a problem. He considers himself much of a ladies' man, though this is not true. -hunting exotic boy who is a friend of Mikayla, to the point where he goes to school to keep in eye on them, getting placed in the "Meerkat" group with kindergarteners. In the same episode, he declares a school holiday for an entire month, and then buys tickets for Tristan to go hunt yetis. Tristan refuses, despite Brady's insistence, and stays on Kinkow. Brady becomes an extreme sportsman to make Mikayla like him, but ends up getting stuck on a mountain ledge. In one episode it is shown he is scared of ghosts. Brady also has the "chime" or singing voice which Boomer lacks. In the episode, Tone Deaf Jam, he reveals his musical talent. He also play the electric and acoustic guitar. It is sometimes said that "looks are all he has." Brady is also very suspicious and is quick to judge, albeit falsely, which is shown when he and Boomer met Oogie and later The Squonks. He sometimes becomes a ninja when he sleeps, during which time he has proven capable of defeating a group of guards, and even Mason, although he usually attacks Boomer.
- Co-King Boomer King of Kinkow (Doc Shaw) - The African-American looking twin/king of Kinkow and one of the two protagonists of the series. Inherited his mother's skin complexion. He likes making jokes and references to Beyoncé. He is funny and bit brave. Boomer has moments of carelessness and is rarely serious, unlike his brother Brady, however in Season 2 he begins to behave in a slightly more responsible and brave manner. In one episode, he is shown to be childish. After Brady takes them to school, Boomer gets placed in the "Meerkat" group, and loves it there with the kindergarteners. However, he leaves them to go be with Brady on the beach. He makes up with them though and had a hand in saving Brady and Mikayla live in that situation. It's shown in recent episodes that he is not scared of ghosts, unlike Brady. Boomer believes he has the chime but in reality it is actually Brady. He also owns a vase which has become a running gag in the series mainly because it gets broken mostly by Brady and always fixed up in the next episode. Of the two, Boomer is more friendly and trusting, befriending Oogie when they first met, and apologizing to The Squonks after they are insulted by Brady.

) - The Royal Adviser's only daughter who assists the twins. Brady often implies that he loves her, she also shows small hints of perhaps liking Brady back. In the episode Kings of Thieves, she was attracted to Sirocco, who is Brady, and asked Sirocco to kiss her but failed when Boomer interrupted. Also in the episode, Pair of Prom Kings, she decides to be Brady's date after seeing his kingly side. She is shown to catch on quickly and is skilled with a sword. She is also the best trained security member on the island, other than her father, Mason, and is left in charge whenever he must leave and must look after the kings and their mess and try to sort it out before she gets in trouble off her father, Mason. She was also briefly turned into a mermaid by Aerosol, an evil mermaid. Her mother is never mentioned or seen.

) - Brady and Boomer's evil cousin who was heir to the throne until Boomer and Brady showed up. He is the main antagonist of the series. He usually spends his time trying to think of ways to get rid of Brady and Boomer; and attempts to cause them trouble. He even attempted to have them both killed during the first episode so he can inherit the crown. His best friend is Yamakoshi, a talking fish who advises on how best to foil the kings. He fell in love with the mermaid Amazonia in the episode "A Mermaid's Tail" even asking her to marry him. Surprisingly, neither Boomer nor Brady is aware of Lanny's evil intentions, thinking of him as either a minor pest or sometimes a friend, which aggravates Lanny even more. ) - The fearless Royal Advisor and loyal friend to Brady and Boomer's parents. He is the overly protective father of Mikayla, and always threatens any boy who attempts to ask her out, including King Brady. This is shown when Mikayla says that the pool table in Brady and Boomer's room is made from the bones of the boys who asked her out. He is extremely skilled with a machete, as shown when he chopped a palm tree down in one slice and a table clean in half. But revealed in the episode "Revenge Of The Mummy" is said that he was scared of a white little bunny and Lanny showed a workout video that Mason and two guards made to teach men and women how to work out (Mostly women, just to impress them. Could have been how Mason met his wife, Mikayla's mother).

Skin pigmentation in twins
Although it is unusual, it is not unheard of to have twins with different skin colors. Twins who have different pigmentation must be dizygotic, or fraternal twins, meaning that they came from two separate eggs. They can arise from either the same two parents, with the sperm from the same father impregnating both eggs, or from the same mother and two fathers impregnating an egg each.
