Paubas are traditional paintings on cloth created basically by the Chitrakar
caste and also by few members of Vajracharya caste of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal
. Thankas are the Tibetan version of the Paubas. The word "Paubha" is related to Sanskrit "Pata or Patra" (scroll) upon which the painting is done.
