The first shop was opened by John Sotiriadis and Nelson Lang in 1995 near Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario
. In 1997, The Pita Pit started to expand within Canada
and in 1999 they began franchising in the United States
. There are about 350 restaurants across the United States and Canada. The restaurants are usually located in college town
