Plaridel is a 4th class municipality in the province of Misamis Occidental, Philippines
. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 33,073 people.
Plaridel became a municipality in 1907. Its original name was Langaran, after the river which drains along its shorelines. The town is accessible from Manila by air via the Dipolog airport which is only 68 km away. Plaridel also has a harbor in Looc that is very well sheltered from strong winds. A passenger boat travels to Cebu thrice a week. This boat unloads and takes in passengers in Siquijor and Tagbilaran, Bohol and Cebu City. Daily boat service to Cebu is also available in the port of Ozamiz City about 67 km to the south.
Coconut and rice are the town's main crops. Municipal fisheries produces more than enough fish for its needs.
