There are more than 70 companies with facilities at Port San Antonio, including aerospace, information technology and heavy industrial customers, among others. According to a 2010 study, the 13 aerospace companies operating out of the Port were found to have accounted for $1.46 billion in annual economic activity for the region.

Transportation

Transportation offerings for Port San Antonio include Kelly Field airport which features an adjacent 11500 feet (3,505.2 m) runway, accessibility by the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe class I railroads, and three interstate highways: IH-35; IH-10; and IH-37. Kelly Field

Port San Antonio's Kelly Field (SKF) has a 11,500-foot (3,505 m) runway which can handle all types of heavy lift aircraft. Immediately adjacent to the runway is 575 acres (232.7 hectares) of mixed use airport property. The Port's airfield has sufficient space available on the ramp areas and terminals for quick re-fueling and efficient turnarounds. The airfield is operated under a joint use agreement with Lackland Air Force Base. Both entities are located on either side of the runway, which affords the airport exceptional security.

East Kelly Railport

Port San Antonio's East Kelly Railport sits at the center of a railway intersection which services the NASCO corridor from Mexico to Canada, as well as the East and West Coasts of the United States. The East Kelly Railport has access to two Class I railroads, Union Pacific and the Burlington Northern & Santa Fe, and is immediately adjacent to the Union Pacific's South San Antonio Classification Yard, which is the destination for most local industry traffic. This location is utilized for various shipments, including bulk industrial, products for manufacturing, and bulk retail goods. The East Kelly Railport has direct rail access to the following deep water Ports: Houston (TX); Corpus Christi (TX); Long Beach (CA); Los Angeles (CA); Lazaro Cardenas (Mexico); Manzanillo (Mexico); Veracruz (Mexico); Tampico (Mexico); and Altamira (Mexico).

The East Kelly Railport also has direct access to the following major US cities: Dallas (TX); Kansas City (KS); Chicago (IL); and Detroit (MI).

US Customs- Federal Inspection Services (FIS)

Port San Antonio has an on-site, Federal Inspection Services (FIS) facility for international cargo and agricultural products. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency is the primary authority for assessing and collecting duties, taxes and fees on imported goods. The FIS facility opened in early 2009 and is manned by a U.S. Customs and Agricultural Inspector.

Town Center

The Port San Antonio Town Center project is to be constructed on a 400 acres (1.6 km²) plot in the middle of the facility. It is intended to provide office space to businesses and to offer dining and retail opportunities for employees of the Port's tenants. It is also intended to include residential space. 2010 Aerospace Economic Impact Study

In a 2010 study by the SABER Research Institute, the thirteen aerospace companies operating out of Port San Antonio were found to have produced 4,300 direct and 4,500 indirect jobs at the Port, accounting for $1.46 billion in annual economic activity. The aerospace-related direct and indirect jobs alone at Port San Antonio have an annual payroll of about $487 million. Furthermore, the Port's aerospace companies help generate $683 million in “value-added impacts,” which includes investment in facilities, and $145 million in local, state and federal taxes.
