History

The land on which the school was built was donated by Endeavour estates. The school was founded by Canon Max Murphy, with the permission of then Archbishop

 Count Finbar Ryan. It was first known as "the parish school" and was later renamed Pamphilian High School and then The College of St. Phillip and St. James. In 1959 the school was established at its current location and management was taken over by the Presentation Brothers

 who continued to run the school until 1997. On 19 March 1959 the school was formally commissioned by the then Education and Culture Minister, Dr. Patrick Solomon. On 4 October 2009 the school celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Although the school is primarily Roman Catholic it has a varied student body of different religions and have different religious celebrations annually for Divali, Eid

At present the Principal of the school is Captain Gary Ribeiro with Mr. Brian Seemungal being appointed Vice Principal in January 2011.

Performance

Presentation College Chaguanas consistently receives many of the top students at the Secondary Entrance Assessment from all across the island. Its reputation for exceptional results at both the CSEC and CAPE Examinations underscores the caliber of both students and instruction. The school has produced students consistently placing in the top few at Cambridge Advanced Levels. Presentation has won eleven President's medals, seven in the last eleven years making Presentation College Chaguanas the only school in Trinidad to achieve such a feat. The most recent award of the President's Medal was in 2011. These scholarships allow education at no cost in any college or university either locally (Additional) or worldwide (Open).The school annually produces students of the highest ability, performing well both academically and in sports. Presentation College Chaguanas also routinely wins nationwide competitions in Science, Math, Computing, Debating, the Arts, and Film. In 2008, Presentation emerged victorious in the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association International Essay Competition continuing their reputation of being one of the top schools in Trinidad
