, and other outdoor, adventurous mountain sports. The goal of the film tour is to bring these movies to audiences around the globe. The Reel Rock events are not just movie showings, but include gear give-aways, athlete appearances and signings, and fundraising for non-profit organizations. Also, there are DVD sales and promotional opportunities for national and local sponsors of the tour.

After organizing small tours for individual film releases, they decided to join together and set up a platform for live events in the outdoors community.
The first Reel Rock film tour premiered on September 7, 2006 in Boulder, Colorado
. The first edition featured two new climbing movies:
Between September and October 2006, events were held in roughly 60 venues across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Almost 10,000 people attended the events, and over $10,000 was raised for local and national non-profits.
The 2007 edition featured the movie King Lines: Chris Sharma's Search For The Planet's Greatest Climbs, as well as excerpts from Commited, a psycho-British-trad-climbing film
The third edition of the Reel Rock film tour added a new element: a filmmaking competition. Aspiring producers were encouraged to submit their best three-minute films. Entries were posted online for public voting, eligible for prizes in different categories, as well as the chance to see their film on the big screen as part of the Reel Rock tour.
