in Hamilton, Ontario where he received the Governor General's Medal and a Chancellor's Scholarship. He also authored 'Perception During Early Infancy', for the Journal of Psychological Science and played on the McMaster Varsity Volleyball team. (Previously, Budreau played on the Ontario Junior Provincial basketball team.)
Budreau then obtained a law degree at the University of British Columbia
and at the University of California - Hasting College of the Law in San Francisco, California. While attending law school, he also completed a film diploma at the Vancouver Film School
, worked in development at British Columbia Film and consulted at the Director's Guild of Canada.
Budreau worked as a corporate/entertainment lawyer at Goodmans LLP in Toronto from 2001 to 2004 before leaving the practice of law to focus on filmmaking full-time.
