, who succeeded to his childless brother's earldom in 1939. As a result of her marriage, Lady Rose Constance Bowes-Lyon was styled as Countess Granville on 21 July 1939. She was invested as a Companion, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.). She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Queen's University, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland. She was invested as a Dame Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) in 1953. They had two children, Mary Cecilia (b. 12 December 1917) and (Granville) James (6 December 1918 – 31 October 1996).
