Episcopal ministry

Dr. Short was elected a Bishop by the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference of The Methodist Church, June 1948 . His first assignment was as the Resident Bishop of the Jacksonville Episcopal Area. From 1952 until 1964 he was assigned to the Nashville, Tennessee Area, and from 1964 to 1972 to the Louisville Area. At the request of the Council of Bishops of the United Methodist Church, Bishop Short provided episcopal supervision to the Philippines
