Opened to traffic in 1985, Skudai Highway used to be a tolled highway until March 2004 when the federal government decided to abolish the Senai toll plaza. Previously, the concession of the highway was held by PLUS Expressway Berhad as a part of the North-South Expressway project. Today, only the Johor Causeway Toll Plaza is still in operation for Singaporean motorists, and the highway is now administered by Malaysian Public Works DepartmentMalaysian Public Works Department
