Social classifieds is a form of classified advertising
in the online medium on social networking websites. Most of such advertisements are free for the use of members of the respective social network. Various social networks such as Facebook

etc. offer social classified advertisement platforms to allow private individuals to solicit sales for products and services. Some of the most popular social classified applications and sites include AdBhai which has a social classified application on Orkut

which has a social classified application on MySpace
. Other sites, such as KaZuum and MySocialClassifieds, utilize social networking tools to create more efficient listings and advertisements for users within the network. Other social classifieds like IList were among the first ones to be launched, and have closed their website since.
The term "Social Classifieds" is largely attributed to Graham Tolhurst the former CEO of Loot.com, where it was used 1996 within an Interview with the BBC to describe information sharing and communication between distinct vertical communities within the online classified space.
