In 2003, Supriya and her husband won awards at the M. T. R. Foods Indian Telly Awards for Best Actor in a Comic role. Supriya always thought of herself as the type of actress suited to play tragic roles but playing the role of Hansa, for which she won the award, changed her perspective.
