The Selector presents an overview of all that is exciting and fresh in British music. It avoids many mainstream
acts, in favour of emerging talent and underground styles. The show reflects the brilliance and diversity of British music, promoting the musical culture of modern Britain to an international audience. The underlying aim of The Selector is to challenge people's perceptions of the UK and to showcase the wealth of creativity and innovation the UK has to offer.

The Selector is produced by Folded Wing
, an independent production company, based in Clerkenwell, London and was previously produced by Somethin' Else
until 2010. The show is put together by former BBC
producer John Cranmer and assistant producer Rachel Essien. Folded Wing director Karen Pearson acts as executive producer.
In 2011 The Selector was named 'International Radio Show of the Year' at the International Radio Festival in Zurich and won bronze for Best Regularly Scheduled Music Program at the New York Festivals Awards
