On June 17, 1957 through the sponsorship of the Congressman Hon. Leonardo B. Perez, Republic Act. No. 197 was enacted providing for the creation of the town Ibung. Thus, on September 01, 1957 Hon.Antonio B. Aquino was appointed as the first Municipal Mayor of the town Ibung.
Two years later, on June 21, 1959, Republic Act. No. 2515 was enacted amending Republic Act. No. 1972 changing the name of IBUNG to VILLAVERDE in Honor of the Spanish Missionary, father Juan Villaverde who had initiated the first stepin creation of the town. Hon. Romualdo Ubando was appointed as the first Municipal Mayor.

Villaverde from the name itself “verde” , which the town first to offer upon entering to its hiding beauty. Villaverde is one of the best place the province to offer to its guest if they wish to unwind. The green vast plain horizon of green fields of the town captivates the eyes and heart of people who visit to discover of its wonder, in line to this; and so the peaceful living of people dwell here.
Villaverde is green heaven, so calm and soothingly cuddle your eyes just before your heart which elaborates the essence of your subsistence once you encompass toward this green cloud nine. The green picturesque of the wide fields classify how superb to live life to the fullest and it also make known the beauty of nature is.
Villaverde is known as banana capital of the province because of its two huge banana plantations which are situated at Occapon and Kabulluan, the northern most land area of the town. Banana is well thought-out as the town’s one town- one product. But sad to say our battery runs out of energy. But this ain’t hinders us to head our way. From Ibung center, a 10-15minutes wheel travel up to the foot of the mountain, wherein the falls is to be found and 45minutes to an hour foot trail, to be exactly where in the falls is situated. Nagbitin has two falls to offer which are spaced out from each other. The falls is said to be one of the town’s magnetism to day-tripper. The first one is a hundred meter high. The falls is very eye-catching because the water from above, falls as one down to the five massive rocks that makes the waterfall split into five and create smaller water fall before it reaches the main downfall. The magnificence of this waterfall will leave you speechless a hundred folds. And the second falls is far apart from this falls, but then this falls is apparently and considerably eye-arrester. The falls is located at the northern most part of Nagbitin. It is 30-45 minutes foot trail hiking. The waterfall is 50-60 meters high and open arm stretched wide.
Curiosities steal my attention to see the impounding of Villaverde situated at Balaquit, Bintawan Norte. So I decided to visit it the following day after our trail from grotto to falls. The Balaquit impounding is 15 minutes foot trail from base of the mountain. And there is another impounding nearby situated at Omoc which is about 20-30 minutes more footsteps. The road is accessible for single motor.
These are some of the hidden wonders of Villaverde as well as of the whole province that is waiting to be fully recognized.
