), and no one told Violet. The relationship finished sometime later, with Violet still not knowing about Jamie's affair with Frankie..

On 11 December 2006, Violet finds out that she is expecting Jamie's baby. Thinking he is single, she tells Jamie that she is pregnant and he tells her that he is having an affair with Frankie, much to Violet's disgust. Violet is upset further when she discovers that Sean knew about Jamie's feelings for his stepmother. Violet suffers an ectopic pregnancy

 on New Years Day 2007, and has to have emergency surgery to remove the tube and the baby. She is told that she has a reduced chance of conceiving. During the storyline Platt commented on the way she handled the delicate storyline offscreen stating: "Obviously, I wanted to find out about it. Violet actually doesn't know anything about it - she just wakes up in the hospital and is told about it, so I kind of didn't need it. It wasn't like I got diagnosed and had to live with it for a while. By the time I've woken up everything's gone. But, just for my own interest, I did, I looked into it and found out a bit about it. I looked at the NHS site to find out what the symptoms would be, and how common it is, all that kind of stuff."

 make a pact - if they are both single and childless by 30, they would have a child together. Violet ponders over this, and agrees to try for a child together immediately, due to Violet's reduced fertility. In July 2007, Violet finds out she is expecting Sean's baby. When Violet tells Sean, he is thrilled that she is going to be a mother. Violet makes him keep it secret for the first 12 weeks but Sean is so excited about Violet's pregnancy, he tells Jamie. Violet is angry and upset when she finds out.

 - into telling him that Violet is expecting a baby boy. He wants to know the sex of the baby but Violet doesn't. He tells Jason and Jamie about Violet expecting a boy and Jason accidentally let slip to Violet the sex of the baby. Violet is furious with Sean for betraying her and making her feel worthless.

It soon occurs to Sean that Violet is planning to bring up their baby without him, and when he confronts her about being pushed out, she tells him that she sees him as the donor, not the father. Upset, he warns Violet that he will take legal action, and she walks out in a rage. Violet and Sean later apologize to one another and the friendship is rekindled.

After Violet goes with Jamie to his mum's wedding, there seems to be an attraction between them. Especially when he hugs Violet after the wedding. They also don't mind being mistaken for a couple. During one night out, Jamie, Steve and Lloyd Mullaney

 are going to go to a 'singles' bar. Jamie tries to stay as long as possible with Violet at the pub. When the taxi finally comes Jamie and Violet kiss each other goodnight. That is the re-start of their relationship in which they agree to bring Violet's baby up together.

On Friday 22 February 2008, Violet gives birth to a boy - whom she names Dylan - whilst in the Rovers with Sean by her side. She is not happy about the situation as Jamie isn't present as he is moving some of their belongings down to London. Sean bonds with Dylan and is ecstatic to be a dad but Violet, however, is sad that Sean has bonded with the baby since she can't take Dylan away from him.

Lauren arrives in Weatherfield after spending time in Ayia Napa

 and immediately sets her sights on the eye-candy of the Street. Violet isn't happy to see her and struggles to tell her about her pregnancy situation. Violet lies to Jamie about the money Sean gave to Violet for a deposit on the recently vacated Number 12 Coronation Street, saying that Lauren gave it to her instead. On 29 February 2008, Violet proposes to Jamie. A thrilled Jamie accepts straight away. Jamie and Violet make plans to leave Manchester with baby Dylan but as they do, Lauren alerts Sean. Sean frantically tries to stop Violet and Jamie leaving but fails. Violet and Jamie drive away.

Later on, they are driving along the motorway. Sean calls Violet on her phone. Violet throws her phone out of the car window onto the motorway to ensure that Sean can never contact her again. Jamie and Violet are last seen speeding off along the motorway to their new life in London, leaving Weatherfield, Sean and Lauren behind.

In Summer, 2010, Sean decided that he wanted to make contact with his estranged son and set out to do so by making contact with Violet via social networking site Facescene, smiliar to Facebook

. Knowing however, that Violet does not want any contact with him, he set up a page under Liz McDonald

's name and asked her to e-mail some pictures of Dylan, who is now aged two. Violet did so and confessed to 'Liz' that she felt bad for alienating Sean, to which 'Liz' - in a strongly worded way - berated Violet for doing so. Upset, she then rang The Rovers and demanded answers from Liz. Liz then found out what Sean had done and fired him, but then gave him a second chance when she realized how upset and desperate he was to see his son and then rang Violet back, asking her to let Sean see Dylan to which she accepted.

In April 2011, Sean heads down to London to visit his son Dylan and witness Violet and Jamie have a row, so Sean and Marcus

 decided to take Dylan out. Sean and Marcus later return to witness Jamie leave in a black Taxi, they then try to comfort Violet but leave after Violet is homophobic towards Sean.

In June 2011, Sean receives news from Violet's grandmother that Violet has been in a car crash and has suffered back problems although she will recover and Dylan wasn't involved in the car crash. However Violet's grandmother contacted Sean again, saying that Violet's back is worse than what is thought to be, and that she is awaiting for a back operation, which could take months. This worries Sean as he has never looked after a child before, not even his son.

In early September, Violet phones Sean to say she's ready to have Dylan back and he reluctantly agrees. However, grateful for their help, Violet tells Sean and Marcus that in return, they can visit Dylan anytime they want to, giving them free indirect access to Dylan

Violet first appeared on 8 October 2004 and the character was originally gong to be called Julie, Platt stated filming in August 2004, as a barmaid in the Rovers Return and is a former pupil of Ken Barlow when he was a teacher at Weatherfield Comprehensive and on occasions calls him 'Sir'. Violet befriended teenager Katy Harris and is good friends with Sean Tully

She is an attractive, polite character, however with the tragic occurrences in her life, she often finds it difficult to be particularly happy. It was stated by Violet early on, that she had left home at a young age to live with an older, dominant man.

. After moving in with Jamie, she begins to have her doubts about his loyalties in September 2006, with him spending more time with Sean, than her. She thinks that Jamie is interested in Sean and asks Sean to find out if Jamie is gay. Sean later discovers that Jamie is in love with his step-mum, Frankie Baldwin, but does not tell Violet this. The relationship later finishes, without Violet knowing of Jamie's affair.

After the character had left the show it was later revealed that the soap's bosses had been on the look out for a lesbian character since 2004, the year that the character entered the series. The original intentions were revealed for the character, that were to make her the soaps first lesbian character in the shows history. Due to the popularity of her two relationships within the characters early storylines the idea was scrapped at the last minute. An ITV insider told the News of the World on July 2008: "Executives want to create a soap which is representative of society in 2008 and they are acutely aware they need more gay characters. They went on: "It does seem ridiculous it (lesbianism) has never been explored on Corrie but that's all about to change." Later it was revealed that producers had shifted the plans they had once put onto Platt's character onto fellow character Sophie Webster
