The BJP in Gujarat used technology to its maximum advantage. The opposition alleged that Sharma was infringing the Election Commission's
guidelines by using technology to release censored political material through alternate media. The Times of India quotes Sharma as saying, "Laws always follow technology, but technology will always remain a step ahead of the law." He was also accused of misusing the government and police machinery for aiding the political activities of the BJP. He advocated Narendra Modi to be a patriot who never indulged in caste politics, but adopted an all inclusive growth and development that includes and benefits Hindus, Muslims and all Indians irrespective of their religious denominations. Further, he advocated that Narendra Modi is not only a Chief Minister but a social reformer as well, under whose governance, infant-mortality rate and maternal-mortality rate had become better, and the male:female sex ratio had improved as more and more rural households were encouraged to provide equal opportunities to the girl-child. He reasoned that Narendra Modi is a visionary genius, and perhaps the most technologically aware and progressive politicians in India. Therefore, it would be beneficial for the party and for India to have Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister. However, the BJP differed. Two days later, on December 10, 2007, the BJP announced L.K. Advani as its Prime Ministerial Candidate. Sharma denied ever having given such a statement, and said that he was mischievously misquoted out of context, adding instead, "Narendrabhai has no intentions of becoming PM, but he would rather concentrate on Gujarat's development" further adding, "The Advani-Modi-BJP 2009 Tornado" shall blow away the Congress Party led UPA." Newspaper writings
Vishal Sharma has written extensively in his columns with the Free Press Journal, Pioneer, and the Times of India on various security, socio-economic related issues. His writings have received wide appreciation.Gujarat state elections 2007
Vishal was involved in the BJP's re-election bid for the Gujarat State Elections held in December 2007. In Gujarat, Vishal Sharma devised and implemented a massive Assembly-to-assembly constituency survey covering 100,000 respondents, and used the party's youth wing to make motorcycle teams and go from village-to-village to do grass-roots information dissemination for Narendra Modi in each and every of Gujarat's villages. Media sources state that Sharma had used the party's youth wing to distribute in huge quantities the famous "Modi Mask" in Gujarat's 18,000 villages, and was part of the secretive election co-ordination committee in Gujarat answerable only and reporting directly to Narendra Modi himself.Ticket distribution issue
Sureshbhai Mehta, a former Chief Minister of Gujarat, and the then BJP dissident had accused Vishal Sharma of being Narendra Modi's "one-man parliamentary board deciding party tickets". Sharma was also accused of calling senior party leaders from the state, and asking them to report to him on the winnability of prospective candidates. Sharma denied any involvement in the party's ticket distribution and denied influencing any leader on this issue. Instead, he added that the media was crucifying him for no reason on this issue. Sureshbhai Mehta subsequently quit the BJP. Even Gujarat BJP strongman and Modi-baiter Keshubhai Patel expressed his displeasure due to Sharma's presence in Gujarat questioning why Modi had trusted a non-Gujarati man with the job.The BJP in Gujarat used technology to its maximum advantage. Vishal Sharma's statement in the Times of India on December 8, 2007, "in the coming days, Narendrabhai is undoubtedly the frontrunner for the PM seat." created a furore in the party. Vishal Sharma also advocated that as per the findings of the Sachar CommitteeSachar Committee

Role in SPIPA
Vishal Sharma was in 2009 appointed as a distinguished member on the Board of Governors of the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) http://spipa.gujarat.gov.in/proactive_diclosure_part1.aspx#t13 - a government body that trains Gujarat state cadre officers and also imparts training to aspirants to the IAS, IPS and various other government service examinations.Paintings
Vishal likes to paint, with the favorite medium being oil and acrylic on canvas. His paintings are 4 feet by 4 feet. Typically, the paintings are metaphorical abstractions representing the struggle and the aspirations of the human spirit in its evolutionary path. His paintings, "Cry of the Soul" (2007) and "Aspirations of a rising people" (2007) have been much appreciated. In the Cry of the Soul, he depicts the longing of the human spirit for freedom. Vishal reasons that it is this indomitable human spirit that has spawned the various freedom struggles in human society. While in "Aspirations of a rising people", Vishal argues through his painting the collective desire of a nation to rise up. The painting exhibits the collective desire of a new billion strong India rising from her slumber, her peoples extending their hand and reaching out for progress, herein metaphorically depicted by the rising full moon.Martial Arts
