. The main campus of WRHS is divided from the Rumble Academy by a street and the punchbowl-like Demon Valley football field where the WRHS Demons football team practices for games. The main campus is connected by a walk bridge that crosses over South Davis Drive to the McConnell-Talbert Stadium

Donald Crosby of Kingdom Builders Church of Jesus Christ started a petition to remove the demon mascot because he did not want his son (an incoming freshman) to be considered a "demon". A counter "Pro-demon" petition was launched and had over 700 signatures in the first twenty-four hours. The pastor and an estimated 30 protesters picketed the front of the high school on the first day of school (August 9, 2010). The pastor was arrested for not obtaining a picketing license and was released on bond.
The mascot, which is not religious in nature, was originally adopted during World War II
in honor of the 7th fighter squadron at Robins Air Force Base which earned its title "The Screamin' Demons" in the South Pacific.
