History

Wellingore has been around for many years. In 1801 there were 559 residents. This peaked in 1861 at a total population of 943 people. At the last census in 1971 there were 618 people living in Wellingore. The largest building in Wellingore is Wellingore Hall.

RAF Wellingore opened in 1935 and ran for ten years until it was decommissioned in 1945. It originally opened in 1917 as RFC
