The school offers a special program called the Leadership Program, where students get to develop leadership skills, get involved around the community, and set goals for the future.
A second mini-school, the Athena Arts program, was added to Windermere in 2008. This program integrates the fine arts into the core curriculum with innovative projects and creative teaching.
In 2006, the senior Reach for the Top
team won first place in the provincial competition and third place in the national competition.
Also, since the beginning of the 21st century, Windermere prepares what is called a Link Crew program during each summer. This is a chance for grade 8 students to be eased into High School with help from grade 11 and 12 students.
