Anderson Valley Brewing Company was founded by Ken Allen in 1987, two years after he first started brewing beer in the back of his chiropractic office in Boonville. At the time, it was one of just 20 craft breweries in the United States.In its first year, the company produced approximately 600 barrels of beer, growing to 26,000 barrels by 2010.
