CalUniversity began its business operations as a Distance Education and Learning (DEL) University. The programs were developed by NETed Inc (a division of iGLOBAL) and NETed transferred its diploma

program curriculum to CalUniversity. NETed also offered e-learning platform solutions, instructional design
and e-learning content development services to CalUniversity in the earliest stages of the university’s formation. CalUniversity received state approval in 2005 and has been fully operational since that time.
In 2009, CalUniversity was accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The Accrediting Commission of DETC is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency and it is also a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation [CHEA]. Dr. Kumar and Dr. Finian Tan, together as founder and co-chairman and co-founder and chairman of the University respectively, have been steering and funding its growth jointly through their respective companies iGlobal Group and Vickers Financial Group. It has been their passion to build a truly global University.
