, but once the truth came out that he is Jack's son, a custody battle over him ensued. Jack was granted visitation, but immediately questioned Diane's motives as she planned on winning Jack back from his marriage to Phyllis Summers. Diane set up a plan to accuse Phyllis of arson and attempted murder by setting the Abbott pool house ablaze. Phyllis convinced Jack that Diane set her up so that she could have him, and they resolved to expose Diane - to such lengths that Jack took Diane to bed and seduced her into a confession. Phyllis was acquitted, then found the note that Diane had written to pay a bum to call Phyllis away from the wedding. Jack and Phyllis used this as blackmail to get Diane to turn over custody of Kyle. Diane then used her Newman millions to help bail out a financially strapped Jabot Cosmetics with "no strings attached" and set up offices at Jabot. Due to the friction caused by Jack working for Jabot and Phyllis working for Newman, Jack eventually gave Kyle back to Diane. After a failed flirtation with Damon Porter

) with Kyle, however Kyle wasn't seen until a few days later after Diane returned. Kyle resided in Genoa City, while both of his parents were being investigated by the SEC for plotting against Victor Newman and making money off his stocks after making the world believe that he died. His mother, Diane, sent him to boarding school in Switzerland without informing Jack because she was planning on faking her own murder and then joining her son. She also pleaded with Victor to sign the custody papers for Kyle if anything were to ever happen to her. It is unknown whether Diane was just following Adam Newman's orders in her faked murder plot, or if she really did want Victor to have custody of Kyle over Jack. Then, Jack found out that Diane sent Kyle away the night that she was actually murdered. After Diane's death, Jack tracked Kyle down under his alias, Timothy Bilton, and went to Switzerland to bring his son home. Jack then had to tell Kyle that his mother was killed. While his father was under investigation, Kyle stole Jack's Harvard class ring that the police were looking for as evidence. He reasoned that he already had his mother taken away from him, and he wanted to keep his dad. Later, Victor showed Jack the custody papers that Diane made him sign, and Jack was infuriated at Victor and his deceased ex-wife for trying to take his son away from him. Jack vowed to fight to keep Kyle with his biological family. Currently, Kyle is staying with Jack and attending school in Genoa City.

Billy told Victoria that they were "adopting" the baby, who they named Lucy after the popular TV show, I Love Lucy. The adoption never went before the courts; therefore, it was not a valid adoption. , died, and they always planned on naming their second daughter Faith if they ever had one. Faith celebrated her first birthday on September 30, 2010. On October 15, 2010, Sharon and Faith were trapped in a barn during a powerful storm. When the barn's beams started falling due to the storm's powerful winds, Adam Newman, who was with Sharon and Faith, threw himself on Faith, who was laying on a bale of hay screaming small crying, to protect her from a falling beam.

Nick and Sharon are often seen fighting over Faith because Nick sees Sharon as a reckless mother, especially since she was with Adam Newman. Sharon was deemed dead after an attempted run from the police, since she was being tried for the murder of Skye Lockhart, even though she did not murder her. The car that Sharon was last seen in explodes, but the woman inside was not Sharon. When the truth came out that Sharon was alive, she was brought back to Genoa City and currently resides in jail, awaiting a new trial. While Nick was busy dealing with Sharon's mistakes, Ashley Abbott offered to watch Faith several times for Nick, which brings the two of them closer. Faith's brother, Noah Newman

convinced their father to go visit Sharon in prison. Noah also encouraged his dad to bring Faith because it would be good for both Sharon and Faith to see each other. While Nick disagreed at first, he reluctantly brought Faith to visit Sharon in August 2011. When Sharon's lawyer, Avery Bailey Clark, asked Nick if he could bring Faith and her brother to Sharon's court hearing, he did as she asked. Little did he know that Sharon was going to accept a plea bargain, when Avery didn't see the need for a deal; she thought that she could get Sharon acquitted. Avery asked Nick to bring the kids to court so that Sharon would see them and change her mind about taking the deal, which she did.

In early November 2011, evidence was brought forward that caused Sharon to be freed, and all charges against her were dropped. Faith reunited with her mother and her brother at home soon after. Then, Victor suggested that Sharon take Faith on a vacation so the two could reconnect and bond away from the media. Thus, Sharon took Faith to New Mexico, where she met Sharon's friend and one-time lover, Sam Gibson.

that Phyllis gave her the cookies because Phyllis wanted Nick back. Later, the DA's office found out that Patty was the one that poisoned Summer. Patty took the peanut butter cookies from the bin and ate them, making sure that there were still traces of the nuts on her lips, and then kissed Summer on the mouth. Because of her allergy, the exposure to the nuts actually caused Summer to go into anaphylactic shock, and she quickly became comatose. Summer awoke from her coma a few days later and had the mindset of a toddler because of the swelling in her brain due to lack of breathing. After going through many months of therapy at a clinic in Switzerland, Summer improved and started acting like her own age.

Summer also started bonding with her baby half-sister, Faith Newman. Summer currently resides with her mother, Phyllis, and her niece, Lucy, who Phyllis gained custody of from Summer's aunt Victoria
