and Dina Mergeron
. He is a Vietnam War veteran and after the war, went to work at Jabot. By the early 1980s, he begins working alongside Jill Foster
who is dating his father. However, after John wants to end the relationship, she falls into Jack's arms. But soon, John soon discovered Jill and Jack. Jill tries explain, but John is not pleased. She tries to return to Jack, who wants to end the relationship as well. Jill ends up filing a sexual harassment suit against Jack in which he ends up paying her $10,000. By 1982, Jill and John reunite and get married against Jack's wishes and Jill's enemy's Katherine Chancellor
.
Shortly thereafter, Jack marries Patty Williams
in an effort to convince his father to make him president of Jabot. However, Jack continues to fool around. This time with Jabot Model Diane Jenkins
. Diane uses her power to move her up to top model at Jabot and continuously threatens to tell Patty about their affair if she doesn't get what she wants. Diane also found competition with Victor Newman's
ex-wife Julia Newman. Julia wants to become Jabot's top model as well, and when Jack chooses Julia over Diane, Diane arranges to have Patty walk in on her and Jack making love. This causes her to miscarry
their baby, but she intends on trying again. When she later overhears him confiding in his stepmother, Jill Abbott
, that he does not want to be a father and only married Patty to get his father to promote him to president, Patty shoots him and loses the memory of the incident. When she regains her memory of it, he decides not to press charges, acknowledging that he brought it on himself.
After Diane
married Andy Richards, Jack returns to have an affair with his stepmother Jill Abbott
. This time however, his ex-girlfriend, Lindsey Wells, takes pictures of the encounter and blackmails him into marrying her by 1985. After he gets the pictures from her, he reveals that the marriage is invalid. Lindsay in turn sells the pictures she has left to Jill's enemy Katherine Chancellor
, who then makes one of them into a puzzle and sends it piece by piece to John
. He throws Jack out of the Abbott Mansion and finally divorces Jill. Jill eventually is found shot in the shower and Jack is one of the main suspects, alongside his father and Katherine. As it turns out, it was a masseaur named Sven from the Genoa City Hotel who shot Jill. Regardless, Jack originally confessed to the crime in order to prevent his affair with Jill coming public. However, the truth later comes out and Jack is cleared of all charges and is able to reconnect with his father.
hire Leanna Love
to write a biography on Victor. Jack intends to have his version of the book be a tell-all entitled Ruthless: The Victor Newman Story. Unknowingly to Jack, Leanna adds a chapter that exploits the affair between Victor and Jack's sister Ashley Abbott
. By this time, Victor and Nikki Newman's marriage was falling apart, and he believed she was behind the publication. Victor divorces her and to prove to the press he didn't divorce Nikki to be with Ashley, he marries Leanna, but it was declared invalid since his divorce from Nikki wasn't final. Victor, however, stays with Leanna until the truth comes out. Victor returns to Nikki, but he also proceeds to avenge his degradation by gaining reigns over Jabot Cosmetics, which Jack had recently convinced his father to make a public company. With Victor now in control, he fired Jack and replaced him with Brad Carlton
. In response, Jack spitefully marries Nikki after Victor and Nikki had another falling out.
Early in Jack and Nikki's marriage there were problems. Nikki quickly developed serious painkiller and alcohol problems. In addition, Nikki gave birth to a stillborn, John Abbott III, following an argument with Victor. Both Jack and Nikki blamed Victor for the death. However, Victor offers Jack a chance to regain control of Jabot. If he leaves Nikki, then he can get Jabot back. Jack follows through, but doesn't regain complete control because of a minor legal loophole. As for Nikki, Victor finally is able to deal with her alcohol problems head on and they were able to reconnect. By 1994 Jack and Nikki Abbott were divorced, yet they continue to be very close friends.
In 1995, Jack reunites with and marries Luan Volien, a woman he had a romantic relationship with during the Vietnam war. They have a son together who was conceived during the war named Keemo Volien
. Luan dies from a fatal illness and Keemo leaves shortly after her death. While grieving his loss, Jack becomes involved with Mari Jo Mason
, but disowns her upon discovering that she is the one who shot Victor.
Several years after the last attempt, Jack plotted again with Brad Carlton
to take over Newman Enterprises while Victor
was being held captive in New Mexico. This time he succeeded in his takeover, by changing numbers in a spreadsheet and seeding the Board of Directors to get the votes needed. When Victor returned, Jack made him a deal to return Jabot to the Abbotts in exchange for Newman. Unfortunately for Jack, Victor saw what he really wanted, and upped the ante-Jabot must be purchased to close the deal, and Brash & Sassy would stay with Newman. The Abbots scraped up the cash for the deal, but fell short at deadline time. Jack had to knuckle under to Victor, and accept a loan for the remainder. Victor bought up all the Abbott loans and was about to turn the tables and control Jabot once again. But Victor's renewed involvement with Jack's sister Ashley Abbott
made him back down on calling in all the loans-for the moment. Meanwhile Jabot was pitting Glo by Jabot against Brash & Sassy, and Victor still plotted revenge against Jack and Brad.
Around 1997, Diane Jenkins
returned to Genoa City, and she and Jack begin another romance. The quickly become engaged, but Ashley Abbott
tries to push Diane away. However, Victor
hires Diane to design a new building and he suddenly seems to be romancing her. Diane ends up breaking off the engagement with Jack and ends up marrying Victor. Her new marriage with Victor ultimately faces its demise when Nikki Landers is shot by her husband's ex-wife. Victor convinces Diane to allow a divorce that way he could marry Nikki on her deathbed, and once she dies, he and Diane would be remarried. However, Nikki lives and Victor stays with her, leading Diane to return to Jack. However, when she learns that Jack is only using her in his war against Victor, she leaves him again. Diane eventually begins a scheme to impregnate herself with Victor's sperm. After a round of thefts by Nikki and Ashley, Diane is impregnated with Jack's sperm. However, she continues to parade her son as Victor's until Nikki confronted her about it.
In 2001, Jack romances Newman Enterprises employee Phyllis Romalotti. They marry, but Diane's return after Nikki's confrontation with her regarding Kyle being Jack's son, throws his marriage with Phyllis in turmoil. Jack and Phyllis fight Diane for custody, with Diane ultimately winning. However, Diane tries to use Kyle to get Jack back and moves into thAbbott's pool house. Both Diane and Phyllis engage in games against each other, but none was as bad as the fire.
On the evening of a wedding, the Abbott pool house burned down and the police called it arson. Diane said she was asleep by sleeping pills and barely managed to escape. Phyllis said she left Jack and Kyle at the wedding because of a call that she was needed at Newman. She was later seen stopping at the Abbott mansion by Diane's friend Isabella about the time of the fire. Phyllis said she had to change her gown after she sat on an ink pen. Evidence was gathered against Phyllis, and she was indicted for arson and attempted murder. But Phyllis finally convinced Jack that Diane set her up so that she could have him, and they entrapped Diane-to such lengths that Jack took Diane to bed. Phyllis was acquitted, then found the note that Diane had written to pay a bum to call Phyllis away from the wedding. Diane ends up losing custody, but Jack later hands Kyle over.
Several months later, the Cosmetic Wars began, and tensions were high as nearly everyone's mate was the enemy. Victor was Newman and his wife Nikki worked for Jabot. Jack was Jabot and his wife Phyllis worked for Newman. Neil Winters
worked for Newman and then-fiancée Drucilla Barber worked for Jabot. Also affected were Victoria Newman
and Nicholas Newman
, whose parents were on opposite sides. The result of this high level war ended up leading to a serve financial crisis at Jabot, Nick turning in his father to the Feds for his tricky tricks, and most importantly the end of Jack's marriage to Phyllis when she decides to defend Victor and Newman against the Abbotts. In addition to changes a Jabot, Jack was forced out of the company as a result of a lawsuit. Jack was once again the unemployed playboy and even began romancing Jill Foster Abbott
again.
and after a cruise, they got married. When Jack and Ashley hears about this, they accused Gloria of being a gold digger. Jack ends up accepting Gloria, but Ashley won't give in. Ashley ends up bringing in Victor to help Jabot, but John was extremely angered to hear this and removed Ashley from CEO of Jabot. Jack ends up becoming the CEO of Chancellor Industries. And John ends up going away to prison for murdering Gloria's ex husband Tom Fisher
. With John in prison and not at the mansion to protect her, Gloria grew tired of the way Jack and Ashley treated her and vowed to get even. She managed to get hold of the new product Ashley was developing in the lab and compromised it with cleaning solution to make trouble for them. Gloria even asked for a sample, then used it on herself, getting major facial burns to show everyone that Ashley's cream was a hazard. Unfortunately samples had already been distributed to select people, and a woman ended up dying after using the cream. The cause of death was a bit suspicious, but the husband was paid off by Jabot to avoid a lawsuit. Jabot's reputation was further ruined, and Katherine fired Jack as a result. Gloria then invited Kevin to live at the Abbott estate, ingratiated herself to Kay and Jill, and landed a job at Jabot as Fashion Consultant, then managed to get Kevin hired on as Director of Internet Affairs to replace Phyllis.
While in prison, John started getting into fights with inmates and having spells where he believed his first wife Dina had just left him. Jack, Ashley, and Gloria were made aware, and Jack got permission for John's doctor to look at him, and it was discovered that John was being over-medicated. Before that was corrected, Jack took this opportunity to get John to hand-write a new will cutting out "his evil wife," whom John thought was Dina. Six months after his incarceration, John was about to be released early due to ill heath when he had a stroke and was rushed to GC Memorial in grave condition. The doctors made the family aware that John would never come out of his vegetative state and had signed a DNR. After much bickering between Gloria and Jack, Gloria decided to use her authority in the DNR to allow John to die. Billy Abbott
and Traci Abbott Connolly returned to say farewell to their father, as did old friend Kay, and ex-wife Jill. Jack and Ashley, who wanted a small family-only memorial service for John, overruled Gloria, who wanted a huge lavish funeral. As the feud between them heightened, Jack made sure that Gloria had the wrong time so that she missed the memorial service where each of John's children, Kay, and Jill, gave a heartfelt eulogy. Gloria, Michael Baldwin
, Lauren Fenmore Baldwin
and Kevin Fisher
arrived to find it over, so held their own service for John, including Gloria's eulogy.
The Fishers were jubilant and the Abbotts were appalled to discover John's will left Gloria 50% of his billion dollar estate, and the rest, including the Abbott mansion to be divided among his children. But when everyone arrived in probate court, the prison chaplain turned over the hand-written will he had been given for safe-keeping by John, which divided the estate among only his children. It was also exposed that John's attorney had never gotten around to making the marriage between John and Gloria legal. Afterward, Gloria arrived at the Abbott Mansion to find her belongings in trash bags on the front porch and the locks changed, with Jack gloating behind the glass door. The next day, as John looked on in the guise of Jack's guilty conscience, the judge decided in the end that the hand-written will would stand, so Gloria was cut out. Assuming that Jack was somehow behind it, Gloria was livid. She and Kevin moved in with Michael and Lauren. Jill and Kay promoted Gloria to Vice President of Creative Affairs for Jabot, further infuriating the Abbotts. Gloria was asked to appear as a judge on the reality show Extreme Catwalk, and Jack found ways to keep her off the show and further sullying the Abbott reputation.
Jack begins dating Nick's ex-wife Sharon, and in March 2007 he asks her to marry him. Sharon accepts the proposal and they marry on April 23. Sharon was ecstatic with the way Jack had treated her son Noah Newman
. But Brad Carlton
, who Sharon had an affair with while she was still married to Nick is not ready to accept this and unsuccessfully tries to break the pair up.
In 2006, after a series of traumatic events, including his being ousted from Jabot as a result of a lawsuit, the death of his father and his having learned of Phyllis and Nick's affair, Jack becomes extremely bitter and plots against a number of individuals who wronged him, including family friend Katherine, Jill - who fired him from Jabot - and his stepmother Gloria - whom he blamed for his father's murder conviction and imprisonment, as well as his longtime adversary Victor.
In the spring of 2007, Jack runs against Nikki in a race for a vacated seat in the Wisconsin State Senate. Phyllis and Sharon use a nanny cam
to catch Nikki kissing David Chow
on tape, release the footage on the Internet. Jack ultimately wins the election. He has a rocky career as a senator, and ultimately resigns in December 2007 because of various events that ultimately lead to a senatorial ethics
hearing including Victor's public release of a private conversation between Jack and Ji Min Kim
.
After Jack resigns from the Senate and Nick is fired from his job at Newman Enterprises, they start a new Internet & print magazine with Sharon and Phyllis. The project is named Restless Style. The venture results in fights among the foursome and exposes about various people in Genoa City.
Jack secretly works with Gloria to take over Jabot. Nick buys out Jack's share of Restless Style after receiving a line of credit from his father Victor. Jack works with Adam Newman to get revenge on Victor, but it fails. Adam goes to prison, but Jack protects himself from being exposed. His deal with Gloria goes through and the Abbotts regain control at Jabot.
Jack has an affair with Mary Jane Benson after Sharon divorces him. Sharon tells him she is pregnant with a baby that might be his, his brother Billy's
, or Nick's. He asks her to move back into the mansion with him so they can raise the baby together no matter who the father is. Though furious with Billy for having sex with Sharon, Jack proposes and wants to start a family with her anyway. But on the same night he finds out that Nick left Phyllis to be with Sharon again. In a moment of giving each other comfort Phyllis and Jack sleep together. A one-night-stand that is witnessed by a furious Mary Jane. He later begins non-committed sexual relationship with Mary Jane. After seeing Nick and Phyllis "together", Sharon goes to Jack and tell him that he is Faith's father even if she knows the baby is Nick's. During an argument over Jack's helping her Sharon tells Jack that Nick is the father not him. Phyllis suspects that Nick is the father and confronts Jack who denies it for Phyllis' sake. Nick goes to visit Sharon at the psychiatric ward and overhears Sharon confess to her mom that the baby is Nick's and swears her to secrecy. It is later revealed that Mary Jane is the alias of Patty Williams, who wants revenge on Jack with the aid of Victor Newman. She eventually ends up in the psych ward but escapes with help from Adam Newman, who tells her to go to Canada to be a nun and never return to Genoa City.
again by using Abby Newman
to file a lawsuit against Victor. In the lawsuit, Abby wants the total amount of money in her trust funds and accuses Victor of mishandling the money. The lawsuit quickly grows when Abby's sister and Jack's new sister-in-law Victoria Abbott
comes on board. Since then, Victor attempted to settle the suit, but Victoria was completely against and was able to convince a weary Abby to turn down Victor's offers.
Around the same time, Jack and Phyllis resume their 9-year-old relationship. But this relationship is once again threatened when Diane Jenkins
and Jack's son Kyle move back to Genoa City. Despite this, Jack continues to juggle spending time with Kyle and Phyllis, although Diane wants to play house with Jack, like she always did. However, Diane ends up having an affairs with Tucker McCall, who was romancing Ashley
and Nicholas Newman
. Nick ends up wanting to end their relationship and Diane ends up moving in with Victor as an in-house architect. They have sex and Victor wanted to continue the relationship. However, when Jack discovered Diane and Kyle in the Newman Ranch, he warned Diane not to use Victor against him.
While Jack was secretly behind the Newman Family lawsuit, Jack also entered a partnership with Victor
to take down the Newman Fund headed by Adam Newman and his wife, Skye, who Jack occasionally slept with. However this partnership fails when Victor suddenly pulls out all of his money without telling Jack, leaving Jack to lose all of his money and other investors are dealt are similar situation. Jack is extremely angry by Victor's sly move, but afterwards, Skye Newman ended up disappearing and many were convinced that Adam killed her. Adam, who now engaged to Jack's ex wife Sharon Newman again. Sharon wanted Jack's help in proving Adam's innocence and ends up getting it. Jack helped prove that Skye wasn't murdered by Adam. However, in Hawaii where Skye ended up living, Sharon and Skye fight, and Skye ends up dying after falling into a volcano. Now, Sharon is accused of murdering Skye and Jack and even Phyllis decides to help her again. Eventually Phyllis and Jack discover a video taken the night Skye died and Victor is in it. When Phyllis showed Nick
he suddenly turns against his father and joins Abby's and Victor's lawsuit against him. Later, Adam and Sharon learn about the video as well.
With Nicholas Newman
, Victoria Abbott
, and Abby Newman
all fighting against their father, Victor Newman
, the prospects of him coming out alive look dim. Victor works up a scheme with Adam suggested that Adam forging the trust document while Victor was in Mexico a few years ago. When they go the judge about this, the case suddenly turns in Victor's favor. An extremely angry Abby, blows up to her mother
who in turns questions Jack about his involvement in the lawsuit from the start. Jack confesses that her fiancee, Tucker McCall actually forced his hand in the lawsuit so Tucker could get Beauty of Nature. Ashley suddenly rethinks her relationship with Tucker. However, they eventually work it out as long as Ashley isn't used in his business deals.
Eventually, Victoria, Abby, and Nick win their lawsuit thanks to Neil Winters
destroying Adam's testimony. Since then, Tucker has offered Victoria a deal to get Beauty of Nature and then merge it with Jabot, exactly the same deal he offered Jack. Also, Jack is having to deal with his son, Kyle having Victor
has his new step—father with Diane's
remarriage to Victor. Jack fears that Victor will use Kyle against him and ruin him like he did Coleen. Back in business, when Jack finds out about Tucker's deal with Victoria, he angrily complains to Ashley
, Billy
, and Traci that Jabot will leave Abbott hands. In fact once Victor announced making Newman Enterprises public, Tucker McCall fired Jack as Co-CEO leaving his fiancée Ashley the sole CEO. Jack confronts Ashley, but she suggests that it is best that she be in charge now and that Jack should try to do something else for now. He decides, like everyone else in Genoa City business community, begins looking for a way to buy up Newman stock.
Soon Phyllis gets caught up in the whole drama regarding Sharon Newman. Sharon is found guilty of murder, but escapes with help from Adam Newman. Adam, however, publicly denies any involvement and tries to keep Nick
and Phyllis away from finding Sharon. He sets them up away from where Sharon really is, and in St. Martin, Phyllis and Nick share the hotel room and end up making love. Soon after, they learn that Sharon died (In reality, Sharon was carjacked and the carjacker died). When Phyllis returns, she tries to help Nick and the Newmans with Sharon's death. By doing this, she avoids Jack. At Sharon's funeral, Jack jokes about it, but Phyllis begins very defensive. Eventually, Jack learns the truth about her affair with Nick and the end their romance.
As Jack begins to look for Newman Stock, he learned that Tucker McCall bought up Adam Newman's stock options recently. Tucker wanted to expand his Newman stock by offering Abby
$300 per share. He thought it could also serve as a wedding gift, given his plans to marry Ashley
. However, Abby, who knows about Tucker's affair with Diane
and overall dislike for Tucker, refuses to make the deal. Instead Abby went to Jack and offered to sell it to him for $299 per share (she referred to the fact that it is a dollar less as the family discount when she told Tucker about it). Jack runs over to the Newman Ranch and greets Victor to tell him he is a new stockholder. At the Ranch, Diane tries to comfort Victor by preparing for romantic dinner, but Victor declines. Diane, who feels Victor is ignoring her, wants revenge. She heads to the Abbott Mansion and ends up sleeping with Jack
In a last-ditch attempt to keep Ashley and Tucker apart, Abby
engineered a dirty scheme that would try to implicate Tucker and Diane Jenkins Newman
having an affair, given that Abby knew about their earlier affair. When a drunk Abby drove Ashley
up to the Abbott Cabin to prove the affair, she hit Tucker. Ashley and Abby were fine, but Tucker was in a coma. Ashley also switched places with Abby before the police to make it seem like she drove, not Abby. However, Abby slowly began to remember the truth. Further complicating matters, once Diane suggested to the police that the car meant to hit Tucker, Ashley was arrested for attempted murder and Katherine
, who now controls McCall Unlimited, fired Ashley as CEO of Jabot. Immediately, Ashley suggested that Jack try to become the CEO in order to protect a new product line of hers. However, Victor
suggested Victoria Abbott
for the position, and Katherine agreed. Luckily, Victoria turned down the offer, and Jack began preparing to become the CEO again. However, Victor offered Katherine a substantial offer to Jabot to him. In the end, Katherine decided to allow for Jabot to live on with Jack at the helm. However, right as the papers are signed, Tucker woke up.
As the new CEO of Jabot, Jack was also given a tip from Diane Jenkins
regarding Adam Newman's manipulative scheme to destroy Newman Enterprises' IPO. Soon after, Jack left to Gloworm, and began focusing in on the stock. At Gloworm, Genevieve Atkinson, approached him after learning of who he was. The two soon began flirting as Jack was able to buy a substantial portion of Newman as Victor had supposedly died from a stroke. Yet, that was Adam's plan, but after Victor came out that he was alive, the SEC began to investigate and Jack, Adam, and Diane were subpoenaed and under investigation. Jack was also being threatened as CEO of Jabot since Tucker didn't support him at the helm. Tucker suggested that his new wife, Ashley Abbott McCall
take over McCall and Jabot, but Ashley supported Jack. Jack was able to birth new life into Jabot as they had a relaunch with a partnership with Fenmore's Department Stores. He has began dating, Genevieve Atkinson. Both cluing to future dates. In recent events, Jack was forced to choose between his longtime friend Katherine Chancellor
and ownership of Jabot Cosmetics. At the last hearing to decide the fate of the company Tucker McCall received 100 percent ownership of the company and as promised he awarded the sale of it to Jack on October 20, 2011

But Phyllis finally convinced Jack that Diane set her up so that she could have him, and they entrapped Diane-to such lengths that Jack took Diane to bed.
Billy Abbott

arrived to find it over, so held their own service for John, including Gloria's eulogy.
