CBA Magnet Program

Deerfield High is one of only two schools in Broward County to have a Magnet Program in Communications and Broadcast Arts. The school receives state funding that they can use to procure the latest in journalistic equipment. The program has three specializations that students can choose to pursue after completing at least one class in each (known as the "Magnet Wheel").

Television News

The Television Department has a fully functional TV Newsroom and several computer editing machines. FEMA and Vice-President (at the time) Al Gore did a special broadcast from the school's newsroom about hurricane awareness. The program produces a daily news show which covers all the school's news and athletics. Students learn to produce news stories as well as reporting and news anchoring.

Radio News

The Radio Department also has a full function radio broadcasting room, which broadcasts programming several hours a day (mainly a few hours before and after school). Students learn the ins and outs of radio broadcasting, both reporting and producing radio shows.

Graphic Arts

The Graphic Arts department has two computer labs with a great deal of advanced graphical editing equipment. This department produces the school's yearbook as well as a video yearbook, in conjunction with the Television News Department. This group also is primarily responsible for the school's website, Deerfield Beach High School.

The program wins several awards from the Florida Scholastic Press Association [FSPA] on an annual basis. FSPA Districts for Fall District 7 Workshop are held at Deerfield Beach High School every year.
