 founded in the summer of 2002 by Philip Cree, Linda Brentano and a group of players, all resident in the UAE. Comprising many nationalities and employed in a variety of professions, the musicians meet regularly to rehearse in their free time.

The orchestra aims to give three to four public performances a year, including works featuring different soloists from within the orchestra. The number of members has varied considerably since the first concerts in March 2003. There are currently around twenty-six players from Australia
