History

Envy on the Coast was made up of former members of three now-defunct Long Island bands, the pop-punk bands 3 Minute Warning and Kingston12, and the post-hardcore band Guilt Like Gravity, formerly known as The Prizefighter. The band was known previously as "Writ in Water" and "New Atlantic" and had a different drummer, Alex Schatz, who left the band for college. Dan Gluszak (formerly of Guilt like Gravity) then joined. The band recorded a 5 song EP with producer Bryan Russell

Released in January 2009, a photography book covering a single band, Southern Comfort, authored and published by Emily Driskill, a Gold Record winning photographer, illustrates tour life with Envy on the Coast.

Envy on the Coast announced on their myspace.com profile in February 2009 that they parted ways with their drummer Dan Gluszak. Dan Gluszak also posted a blog.

The band joined Taking Back Sunday and Anberlin in a full North American tour Spring 2009.

In June 2009, Ryan and Brian from Envy on the Coast did a video interview with Indie Star TV http://www.indiestar.tv where they stated that the full-length album has been pushed back to 2010 and that no guest vocals including Corey Taylor will appear on the record.

Since the band has parted ways with their former drummer, they have toured with multiple drummers and have stated in interviews that they've enjoyed sharing the stage with different people and will continue to do so. However for their second LP, Lowcountry, the band suited vocalist Ryan Hunter as their studio drummer.

In March 2010, Lowcountry was posted on the band's myspace profile in its entirety, excluding the 4 bonus songs of which are included in the digital pre-order. Justin Beck (Glassjaw) designed the cover art for Lowcountry. They toured with The Fall of Troy

On July 12, 2010, the band announced via their Facebook page that they will no longer be playing together. Bossio and Velardi stated that they were no longer happy being a part of the band and left. Hunter and Byrne decided to move forward, rather than find musicians to replace Bossio and Velardi.
