Frecuencia Latina better known as Channel 2, is a Peru

After the restoration of freedom of the press

following the brutal and repressive regime of Juan Velasco Alvarado
in the 1970s, Channel 2 was back on the air in 1982 when Winter Group bought the station and turned it into one of the first Peruvian networks to broadcast live and in color
. On January 23, 1983, the new network was renamed Frecuencia 2 (Frequency 2) and kept that name until 1995, when it was finally renamed Frecuencia Latina.
The Winter Group led by Samuel Winter and Mendel Winter, majority shareholder of the station, gained control of it in 1997 after Fujimori's regime stripped Ivcher (minority shareholder) of his Peruvian nationality. All of this was prompted by newscasts that revealed the corruption of former president Alberto Fujimori
and Vladimiro Montesinos
. Some analysts believe this change influenced the editorial line of the channel. However, Channel 2 regained popularity during the Winter Group years.
After the fall of Alberto Fujimori
in the early 2000s, ownership of the channel reverted to Baruch Ivcher
. The channel commenced a swift process of reforms.
The network has several TV Shows, including Ayer y Hoy a Sunday show similar to 60 Minutes
, 90 Segundos a newscast, La Ventana Indiscreta hosted by Cecilia Valenzuela, and El Especial del Humor, a comedy show. The network is also known for broadcasting the telenovelas produced by Iguana Comunicaciones. This year Gisela Valcarcel
a Peruvian diva, is called to air a new show on this channel.
The channel has broadcast many animated series such as Pokémon
