History

KPSP-LP signed on with CBS programming on September 2, 2002. Prior to KPSP-LP signing on as a new affiliate, CBS programming came into the Palm Springs market via cable or antenna through Los Angeles' KCBS-TV

When KPSP went on the air, the Coachella Valley area cable companies displaced KCBS-TV (at KCBS's request), and KPSP adopted the "CBS 2" moniker, following the practice of major local competitors in using its cable designation for branding purposes. The KDPX call letters are now on channel 45, the local ION affiliate.
On April 1, 2008, KPSP switched from branding itself "CBS 2" to "KPSP Local 2"; the "CBS 2" logo was retained for several months afterwards.

At one point, KPSP aired its early evening newscast from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., advertising it as a single 90-minute newscast, with the CBS Evening News
