nearby to the south. The B1400 passes down the side of the ridge past the train station at the bottom of the hill to Messingham
on Cleatham Road. Half of the town is on top of the ridge, half of it is situated on the side. The Lincolnshire boundary along the B1205 is one mile to the south.
North of the town next to the B1398 is Mount Pleasant Mill
on the top of the ridge
. From here and most of the town is a view over the Trent Valley.
It was the one time home of Catherine Parr
, the sixth wife
of Henry VIII after she had been married to her first husband, Sir Edward Burgh
