Dr. Newton Howard, Ph.D, HDR is the Founder and Chairman of the Board. A leading researcher on the Physics of Cognition (PoC) and its applications to Defense and International Security, he is an active member of several research laboratories operating worldwide.He also heads the Descartes Institute for Mathematical Methods in Behavioral Codification and Global Security, focusing on behavior models and codification to develop new approaches for counter-terrorism based on in-depth analysis.

Lester S. Hyman, JD is the Chair of the Center's Legal Advisory Board. He is also a founding partner and Senior Counsel at the prominent Washington, D.C. law firm of Swidler Berlin Shereff Friedman

She has also held extensive volunteer leadership positions and has previously worked for Pfizer and The Reader's Digest.

Subsequently, Edward led DSL product development and marketing at Efficient Networks, where quarterly revenue grew from $1 million to $100 million during his tenure. Andre D. Hollis, J.D. is a current Fellow at the Center and the Chief Executive Officer of Tiger International Advisors, a global commercial due diligence and strategic business counseling company. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Hollis served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Counternarcotics. In that role, Mr. Hollis served as the principal civilian responsible for the Department’s 178 domestic and international counter-trafficking programs and its $1.7 billion in annual program expenditures. Col. (Ret.) Robert Jones, J.D. is a Fellow at CADS. Mr. Jones has had over 26 years of active and reserve military service on record and has serves the final eight years in a wide range of critical positions within the Special Operations community, to include service in the Philippines and Afghanistan. Colonel Jones’s perspectives on Insurgency were shaped in part by his service in support of Special Operation Forces (SOF) op-erations across the Asia-Pacific region as Director of Plans, Programming and Strategy; and as the Director of Operations for Special Operations Command, Pacific. Building on that experience he spent two years as the Chief of Strategic Studies for United States Special Operations Command, playing a key role in the application of Operational Design to strategic-level problems, leading the highly acclaimed USSOCOM Strategic Appreciation, and first ever Command Strategy.

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Chris Kammermann is a Fellow at the Center and the President and CEO of CLK Executive Decisions, LLC. He is also a founder and Managing Partner of Edge Solutions, LLC, and a co-founder of Team Captain Leaders, LLC. Mr. Kammermann’s leadership experience includes numerous Platoon Leader assignments while stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington in 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry and with 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He has also commanded Company B, 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division and has had several notable assignments throughout his distinguished career. SGM. (Ret.) Rich Sanoske is a Fellow at CADS and the President and CEO of Eagle Executive Services International (EESI), a consultant firm based out of Northern Virginia. Prior to his work at EESI, Mr. Sanoske spent over 17 years in US Army Special Operations, in both classified and non-classified units. After serving with U.S. Army Special Operations Command and Joint Special Operations Command, Rich spent the last 7 years of his career with the 1st Special Operations Detachment – (DELTA). While serving with DELTA he was the Principal Advisor for Personnel Recovery Operations to the Commander. Rich is an expert in Unconventional Recovery (UR) and Non-conventional Recovery (NAR) operations. He has served on numerous tours of duty around the globe, with the most recent being 5 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2001-2006. Mr. Sanoske has been awarded the Legion of Merit, Silver Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Joint Service Commendation Medal for service. Mr. Sanoske maintains a Top Secret (SCI) security clearance.

Dr. Stefan E. Schmidt, Ph.D. is a CADS Fellow. He is also the CEO of Phoenix Mathematical Systems Modeling, Inc., a research group that develops mathematical solutions to resolve homeland security problems. Mr. Schmidt is a member of the graduate faculty of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at New Mexico State University (NMSU), and for the past five years, he has served as Senior Research Scientist at NMSU's Physical Science Laboratory (PSL). Dr. Schmidt has held research positions at Mainz University, in Germany; University of California at Berkeley; the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute, the Shannon Laboratory of AT&T, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His research includes studies on geometric algebra, order theory, combinatorics, formal concept analysis and reflexive theory applied to communication networks, agent modeling and systems of systems analysis. His recent work includes modeling and simulating terrorist recruitment via reflexive theory as well as modeling and simulating border protection via reflexive control.

Kevin D. Stringer, Ph.D. is a Fellow at CADS and a Visiting Professor at Thunderbird School of Global Management. Dr. Stringer is a Distinguished Graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point Class of 1987, and has published over a dozen articles on defense, security, and diplomacy in many prestigious publications, including Joint Force Quarterly, Military Review, and Jane’s Defense Weekly. He has also served as an active and reserve component aviation officer in leadership and staff positions in the 8th Infantry Division, the Southern European Task Force, and European Command.

Radicalization Watch Project

The project is a weekly broadcast about radical network activities worldwide. It is also a database of documents generated by extremists and radical organizations. The database is accessible to a variety of people including the intelligence, military and federal law enforcement agencies; Federal, state, and local agencies, as well as corporations and non-governmental organizations. The purpose is to provide information on the activities of radical groups and to facilitate collaboration on interpreting it.

Emerging Technology Initiative

ETI is a project that assesses new technology, and then publicizes it to close the information gap between emerging technology producers and technology buyers. ETI is believed to help increase productivity, efficiency and security by bringing small innovative researchers and their work to the public forum.
