Female Members of Parliament for the Conservative Party

Since the beginning of the 20th century, a number of women have served in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom as elected MPs for the Conservative Party
. Though not the first woman to be elected as an MP, Nancy Astor, Viscountess Astor
was however the first woman to take her seat in the House of Commons. The first woman elected was the Sinn Féin
politician Countess Constance Markievicz, she however did not take her seat in common with her Irish nationalist parties' policy of abstentionism.
Many have suggested that the Viscountess's election paved the way for women in society to become increasingly more involved in politics and for many they later represented their respected party in Parliament.
