starts dating Hunter. - The speed camera photo arrives, showing Rachel's car the night Morgan died, but Libby is shocked that someone else is driving. Libby knows who that person must be, which was Kieran and arrives at the Church with police in tow, interrupting the vows and insisting that Sophie must not marry Kieran by revealing that it was actually him (Kieran) who killed Morgan in a hit and run accident.
- Sean covers for Kieran, which results in Kieran getting off the hook.
- At the Police Station, Kieran tries to tell them the truth but Sid intervenes. When Sophie tries to hear Kieran out, Sean slaps her.
- Kieran is outraged but Sean justifies that confessing to Sophie would ruin everything. He assures Kieran he has a plan. When a furious Callum and Hunter arrive with the police, Kieran feels wretched as he allows Sean to be arrested. Later, Sean leaves the country to avoid arrest.
March
- Gabrielle leaves Ferndale for Zurich.

arrives back from her break in Samoa and starts seeing Isaac. - Doug Morrison, Traceys brother and cop, arrives in Ferndale.
- Libby, Gerald and Yvonne are shocked when Rachel announces that administration is overstaffed and one of their jobs will have to go.
- Sophie and Kieran return from their honeymoon.
- Rachel tells Libby, Gerald and Yvonne that one of them will get fired. Libby overhears Rachel and Callum discussing that Yvonne will be the one that will get fired. Libby and Gerald tell Rachel if she is to fire Yvonne, the two of them will resign. Rachel accepts their resignations. Libby and Gerald then both take a pay cut so Yvonne can stay as well. None of them end up getting fired.
April
- Rachel goes behind Callums back and discusses with William Nungent from the DHB, the possible closure of the Primary Care Clinic.

guest stars as Leslie Grant who gets knocked out and Yvonne has to play his character. - It is revealed that John Grainger, (former CEO of the dodgy pharmacuetical company Scott Spear), is imprisoned and the drug company is facing billions of dollars worth of fines.
- Libby leaves Shortland Street.
- Yvonne collapses in the lift after Brooke refuses to see her. Yvonne goes to ED and nearly suffers brain damage as a result of not being treated, but she survives since Brooke saved her life.
- Doug, Tracey's brother, is bought into ED after a gunshot to the leg. It was later discovered that Doug actually shot himself in the leg to get out of trouble and that he was a corrupt cop.
- Maia and Gerald visit Tauranga to visit Nicole, they persuade her to come out of the closet, she decides to stay in Tauranga though, but later has a change of mind and arrives back to Maia's open arms in Ferndale.
- It is announced the PCC is to be closed so Sarah decides to buy it out, she gets ex husband TK to help with the money.
- The month ends with Brooke, scared that TK and Sarah are growing closer together pokes holes in TKs condoms.
May
- Daniel, while staying at TKs house, unwittingly takes a condom that Brooke has poked holes in and has sexSexIn biology, sex is a process of combining and mixing genetic traits, often resulting in the specialization of organisms into a male or female variety . with Loren. - Scotty and Tracey visit Tai Scott in prison and on the way out the prison goes into lockdown as it is revealed the prisoners are revolting, which results in a prisoner getting knifed and Tai getting shot by SWAT but surviving.
- After Tai gets taken back to prison, Scotty and Tracey admit their love and hug passionately. Later on, they began dating.
- The PCC closes and TK and Sarah set about starting up their own GP clinic.
- Kieran discovers a note at the bar saying "I Know What You Did", making Kieran believe someone else knows about him killing Morgan.
- Maxwell tells Loren she's pregnant after ending up in ED with a sprained ankle.
- TK breakes up with Brooke, leaving her heartbroken and devastated.
- After three blackmail notes, the audience learns Jane Perry is blackmailing Kieran Mitchell.
- Shortland Street celebrates its 18th birthday.
- Sophie tells Kieran she wants a divorce.
- Ben proposes to Yvonne to which she rejects but suggests they have a party to celebrate their relationship.
- Kieran sets up a plot to find out his blackmailer and finally discovers that it was Jane.
- Ben takes Hunter to the supermarket where they get in a fight with some goons and Hunter gets stabbed and Ben gets knocked to the ground. Hunter comes out ok but Ben develops a brain hemorrhage and is pronounced brain dead.
- Hunter's HIV results come out negative.
June
- Yvonne refuses to accept Ben is gone and thinks he is simply unconscious rather than brain dead.
- Chris' feelings for Rachel that he has not felt since 2003 reignite.
- Ben's life support is turned off and he dies.
- Jane and Kieran successfully scam Henry of 160,000 dollars before Jane leaves to Thailand.
- Loren aborts her and Daniels child and leaves to London.
- Sarah's PCC is held up by a man with a knife demanding money.
- Reuben starts to poach Sarahs patients to get back at her over the Loren situation
- Jane returns to the IV and blackmails Kieran again to sell the IV and move to Thailand with her.
- The Shortland Street netball team plays and loses against Central.
- Brooke's alcoholic Mother Annette arrives in Ferndale and quickly makes The IV her favorite drinking spot.
- Jane pushes Kieran making him hit his head on a pot, he is taken to hospital with a brain bleed. After surgery Kieran suffers memory loss and believed it was October 2009 but his memory quickly re-triggered.
July
- Scotty's old army friend Warren arrives at Shortland Street demanding Scotty. That night Scotty and Tracey find his dead body in Scotty's living room.
- Sophie starts dating her lecturer Ashton Fuller.
- Maxwell gets arrested in a case of mistaken identity.

- Sophie dumps her lecturer Ashton Fuller causing him to stalk her everywhere she goes. Kieran finds out about the stalking and enters Ash's home and gets him on the ground and attempting to kill him, revealing Kieran's true self but he was only trying to protect Sophie and that he has not killed anyone before, despite being dangerous.
- Kieran is informed that his brother Sean was killed in a warehouse fire in Thailand.
August

- Chris learns he fathered a child named Phoenix Raynor in 1996 with series original Alison Raynor. He takes him under his care.
- Rachel's contract is ending; Callum offers her a job as project manager during the hospital restructure. Rachel accepts the part.
- Zoe and Isaac sleep together again, Maia and Nicole see them flirting and Nicole guesses she cheated on her, Nicole tells Maia, Maia tells Isaac he has 2 hours to tell her, Isaac calls Tania and she is upset, Then Callum tells them that she has quit and will not be returning for a long while.
- Sarah is offered a new position at the hospitals private sector by Rachel, Sarah takes up the offer.
- Penny poisons Scotty's curry, but Hunter eats it instead and Penny tricks him into drinking medication which makes him vomit but he recovers.

's daughter, Jasmine. - Penny kidnaps Scotty. She takes him to a secret location where she shoots him in anger after Scotty reveals that Penny's father raped his girlfriend. Tracey and Sarah find them. Scotty is rushed to the hospital whilst Penny escapes.
- A nationwide search is issued to find Penny. Hunter returns home to find Penny hiding behind the front door. She says she loves him and that she needs money.
September
- Hunter sets up Penny and she is arrested.
- Scotty proposes to Tracey after getting approval from Shantis family.
- Libby Jeffries returns from America. It is revealed her visa expired and so she was fired.
- Gerald and Libby get engaged as Gerald has an American visa and that means they can both travel to America.
- Tania returns from America.
- Although nothing goes to plan on Libby and Geralds big day, the two get married. They depart the next day to the United States.
October
- Daniel returns from Indonesia after being bitten by a deadly snake.
- New employee Leo Hoffstetter makes off with $200,000 resulting in Callum getting suspended and Sarah becoming acting CEO.
- Maxwell sleeps with ex wife Vasa, after admitting the affair to Sarah, the two agree to break up.
November
- Rachel returns to Ferndale, after a few weeks of being near her brother's side in Paris and in hopes of ending her relationship with Callum so that she could be with Chris. But somewhere along her return she decided to stay with Callum after finding out what had been going on in the Hospital while she was away.
- Sarah has been offered a chance to join an MS researching however though it all takes place in Boston.
- TK breaks up with Jennifer after he realizes he is still in love with Sarah though he thinks she is dating Quentin and he can bring himself to tell her.
- Yvonne returns to Ferndale from her holiday in Peru, straightaway she is called into work by Callum, much to her dismay, by the time she arrives home at the end of the day with Maia and her son, she finds their apartment ransacked.
- As Sarah is about to leave, TK readmits his love and they passionately kiss. The next day at first she cancelled her flight to Boston to stay with him but due to an advice by Daniel, TK encourages her to go and so she sets off there.
- Chris returns from Australia but is shocked to hear that Rachel has decided to stay with Callum, though he is determined to win her back.
- A mysterious man named Russel offers Yvonne Spanish lessons but is it revealed she accidentally smuggled drugs back from Peru in the form of a trike and he is after it.
December
- Tania leaves Ferndale for Laos with her new love Rafe Durville.
- Sophie is informed that Kieran's body has been found.
- Murray and Brodie purchase the IV.
- Evan runs away from his family.

- Rachel breaks up with Callum.
- Scotty freaks out when he hears Penny may be on the lose and he believes Tracey is an imposter. Scotty starts to strangle Tracey and threatens to kill her.
- Evans cigarette causes the apartment Rachel and Callum are in to catch alight. Evan is knocked out and Chris comes in to save Rachel. Chris and Rachel lie passed out on the ground as Callum realizes there is going to be a big explosion. He jumps on top of them risking his own life to save theirs as a huge explosion rips through the room.
- The 2010 season finishes with Chris', Rachel's, Callum's, Evan's, Tracey's and Luke's lives all at risk.
